Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood admits he wants to score more headed goals for the Red Devils as he looks to fire the club to Europa League glory.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Old Trafford, scoring 18 goals in all competitions and five since the campaign resumed after lockdown.

Greenwood’s performances helped Manchester United finish third in the Premier League and they could yet end the season with some silverware with the Europa League finals starting this week.

The Red Devils face Copenhagen on Monday evening in the first match of the ‘final eight’ tournament. Asked which area he wants to improve, Greenwood told UEFA: ‘In my area, I think in headed goals. I’ve not scored a headed goal in the first team this season.

‘So, hopefully, it would be nice to get one of them before the Europa League finishes.‘ Greenwood added: ‘It would be amazing [to lift the trophy].

‘It’s something that I’ve dreamed of, and obviously, we’ve got Brandon [Williams], Jimmy [James Garner], Ethan [Laird], and Teden [Mengi] in the squad now, so obviously, to win a trophy with them, as I’ve played with them in the youth team – all the way up from when I was younger, about eight or 10 it would be –

‘it would be amazing to have a trophy with them and to win my first trophy here, it would be good.‘ Greenwood also revealed the best advice he has received, adding: ‘Just, you can always do better, and there’s no limit.

‘You can always get better; you can always go the extra mile. There’s no stopping, you can always be a better player.

‘And obviously, at this club you’ve got some of the best players in the world, so that speaks for itself, really. ‘So, that’s the motto I go by: you can always get better and you can always be better.‘ Manchester United are bidding to win the Europa League for the second time in four years, having beaten Ajax in the 2017 final in Sweden.
