Sagay therefore advised the President to declare the sack of Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, from his position as the minister.

While supporting his motion, Sagay mentioned that Akpabio was deeply involved in the controversial issues surrounding the fraud in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

And during the investigative hearing by the House of Representatives on which was held on Monday, Godswill Akpabio had made accusations that some lawmakers who are member of the National Assembly, were also beneficiaries of the contract commission which is awarded by the NDDC.

In response to this, Sagay while being interviewed on Channels Television mentioned that the President not only sack the Niger Delta Minister, but should also sack members of NDDC’s IMC.

In his words, the chairman said, “If I were the President, if I were in his shoes, and if I was to advise him, I would say dissolve this interim committee, remove the Minister of the Niger Delta because he is neck-deep in it and bring in fresh people, probably people who have been properly nominated and then institute a very strict system of monitoring expenditure.”

Thus, while advising the president, Itse Sagay has motioned for the president to sack Godswill Akpabio alongside the members of the IMC for their involvement in the NDDC financial mismanagement.
