On his own part, Ponle was accused of defrauding a Chicago-based company into wiring $15.6 million to him.

Ponle was arraigned before a US District Court in Illinois on allegations bordering on wire fraud conspiracy.

On Monday (23rd of July, 2020), the Attorney General for US State of Illinois, John Lausch, filed a motion requesting the dismissal of the case against Olalekan Ponle, without prejudice.

“Counsel for the government has spoken with counsel for the defendant and defendant’s counsel has no objection to this motion. Respectfully submitted,” Mr Lausch said.

The fraud case against Ponle was then dismissed by the court.

“Without objection, the complaint against defendant Ponle is dismissed without prejudice. Motion presentment hearing set for 7/23/2020 is stricken,” Judge Robert W. Gettleman ruled.
