The Ogun police command on Sunday said it had captured two presumed outfitted looters while ransacking drivers on the long bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan freeway. As per an announcement given in Abeokuta on Sunday by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were captured on June 26.

Oyeyemi clarified that the suspects, Ibrahim Nura, an indigene of Kebbi state and Isaac Kyegh, an indigene of Benue both live in Kara Isheri zone of the state, were captured while assaulting one Agoro Adebayo and Olalekan Toheeb whose vehicle had a mechanical flaw on the bridge.

The announcement states thus; “While attempting to correct the issue, the two men unexpectedly came free from the bridge and compromised the team with blade and cutlass in order to confiscate them of their resources.

“All the while, the watch group from Warewa division drove by DPO SP Afeniforo Folake who are on routine watch on the bridge met them in the act”.

“On seeing the police officers, the suspects ran away and bounced under the bridge, yet they were fervently pursued and captured directly under the bridge where they have gone to their den”. “A folding knife was recuperated from them,” he said.

Oyeyemi included that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, has requested the quick exchange of the suspects to Special Anti Robbery Squads (SARS) for circumspect investigation and arraignment.
