The deputy chairman of the party, Pastor Kenneth Asemokhai and a governorship aspirant of the party, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, sought the order of the court to prevent the party from using direct primaries to elect the Edo State governorship candidate of the party. Court was adjourned till June 11. Going by this ruling, the governorship primaries of the APC in Edo state slated for June 22 may not hold as scheduled.

It will be recalled that the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressive Congress proposed the direct primary method which have not gone down well with some faction of the party resulting in the filing the court suit.
