Researchers in China, the origin of the novel Coronavirus, have commenced a second phase human trial of Coronavirus vaccine. This was reported today, by the Institute of Medical Biology, at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS), in further assessing the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine.

Twelve of different vaccines, are in different stages of human tests globally. Recall that recently, WHO warned of possible increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the globe, saying that the World is in, a new and dangerous phase.

This came as a result of different countries, already relaxing the lockdown measures imposed by them, as a way of curbing the spread of the virus. It should however be known that, none of the vaccine trials have passed large-scale, late-stage phase 3 clinical trials, an important step, before getting the necessary regulatory approval for sale.

The Institute started yesterday, a phase 2 human test for its experimental shot, among six possible vaccines. Chinese scientists are testing in humans, following an on-going phase-1 study, that has recruited about 200 participants since May.

The trial will determine the dose, and will continue to check whether the potential vaccine, can safely trigger immune responses in healthy people.

Recall that the novel Coronavirus, started in China, before spreading to other parts of the World. Some countries in America and Europe, had been adversely affected.

The disease is still infecting thousands of people, everyday around the World, and have killed many others. The pandemic forced many countries to embark on total shut down, having serious implications on the economy. Forcing many countries into recession.

The initial drug, earlier recommended for treatment of the disease, called hydroxychloroquine, was recently proven not to be effective by researchers, and that it’s usage, should be discouraged.

The World is looking forward to a quick development of a drug or vaccine, to curtail the disease.

Godspeed to them. If they can help us end this nightmare maybe we can forgive them.
