Akon City awards $6B development contract to KE International

The cryptocurrency-based futuristic city that Senegalese-American singer, Akon is proposing to build in his home country is already taking shape as the city has already awarded a $6 billion contract to American construction company KE International.

The city development project will be in two phases, with the first phase worth $4 billion expected to be completed in 2023.

“Akon City’s Phase 1 is expected to complete by end of 2023, and will see the construction of roads, a Hamptons Hospital campus, a Hamptons Mall, residences, hotels, a police station, a school, a waste facility and a solar power plant,” a press release read.

The second phase of the city development is expected to run from 2024 to 2029. At this stage, the city will run exclusively on the AKOIN cryptocurrency.

“Akon City Phase 2 will run from 2024 to 2029 and will end with a complete cryptocurrency City running exclusively on AKOIN cryptocurrency,” the operators revealed.

The singer, Akon also shared the news of the development on his Instagram page.

This is amazing. Kudos to you big boss Akon. A whole city is going to be built in 3 years but Nigerian politicians will take 5 years to build one small road.
