Popular church based in Uyo shut down after police crackdown for holding service

OYOGist.com has learned that a church known as World Missionary Church located at Ikot Udoro street by Ikot ekpene road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state has been shut down after going against Governor Udom order against holding of church service.

Recall that Akwa Ibom Governor had on Saturday in a live radio broadcast gave reason why churches won’t be open, stating that members might be fraternizing after church services, thereby spreading coronavirus. His warning against church service was obviously regarded by the church as the pastors went ahead to hold service.

Half an hour to the service which stated by 8am, a convoy of security comprising of police, army, mopol and road safety arrived at the venue, started flogging people and arrested the leaders of the church.

Due to the stern looking faces of security men, photos of them couldn’t be taken as they dispersed the crowed. It was a situation of commotion and pandemonium for worshippers as some made it out of the church premises.
