Ganduje Permits Conduct Of Friday Prayers, Bans Sallah Activities In Kano

OYOGist.com has learned that Abdullahi Ganduje, Governor of Kano State, has banned all Eid-el-Fitr festivities, including Hawan Sallah to mark the end of Muslim Ramadan fasting, in the state. He however, granted the conduct of the Eid congregational prayers across the state.

This was made known in a statement issued by Mohammed Garba, the state Commissioner for Information, on Monday.

A total of 216 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed late Monday.

In a post on its Twitter handle, the centre said 74 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, 33 in Katsina State, 19 in Oyo State, 17 in Kano State, 13 in Edo State, 10 in Zamfara State, and eight in Ogun, Gombe and Borno states respectively.

Seven cases each were recorded in Bauchi and Kwara states, four in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), three each in Kaduna and Enugu states and two in Rivers State. Nine new deaths were also reported, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 191.
