Akwa Ibom to return 1800 FG rice over change of colour

OYOGist.com has learned that the executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State Mr. Udom Emmanuel has acknowledged the receipt of 1800 bags of rice from the Federal Government.

The Governor disclosed this today during a media briefing with journalists on recent developments in the state as well as the state’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Governor while admitting release it to Akwa Ibomites as the rice have changed its colour and that he has sent the “gift” to the Laboratory for testing.

It could be recalled that President Buhari ordered that 150 trucks of rice seized by the Nigerian Customs should be released to states in order to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 lockdown.

A few days ago Oyo State governor Dr Seyi Makinde rejected the rice sent to Oyo State and returned it, claiming the rice was bad.
