According to a letter sent to Prof. Josiah Ajiboye of Educational Management, Unilorin, by the TRCN, the appointment was based on Abdulkareem’s significant roles as a critical stakeholder in the education sector.

The letter also stated that Abdulkareem has been cooperating and offering support to TRCN.

It stated that the enforcement exercise commences across the country from February 2020.

The Nigeria News Agency recalls that the National Council on Education (NCE) at its meeting held in Yanegoa, Bayelsa, in 2006 gave a deadline for all unqualified teachers to get qualified, registered and licensed by the TRCN.

The NCE reiterated this position at its other meetings in Kano in 2017; Abuja 2018, and Port Harcourt 2019.

Consequent upon these, the Minister of Education gave the directive of Dec. 31, 2019, as the deadline for all qualified teachers to get registered and licensed by the TRCN.
