King of Highlife, Victor Olaiya, dies at 89

Legendary highlife musician, Sir Victor Olaiya, has died at the age of 89. The music icon of the 80s and beyond was confirmed dead at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH on February 12, 2020.

He was reported to have suffered a brief illness before his death.

The enigma, Victor Olaiya was said to have married several wives and had children and grandchildren. Among his daughters was Moji Olaiya, who was a Nollywood actress.

Moji Olaiya died on the 17th of May 2017.

Victor Olaiya was born on the 31st of December, 1930 in Ekiti.

Some of his most popular works include Baby Mi Da and 3 Decades of Highlife.
